Some newborns sleep easily and deeply, like little logs, out for the count with their content, milk-satisfied wee bellies. Some take a bit of extra time to settle and others take lots of patience and a variety of soothing strategies. Lucy was 7 days old at her session and she reminded me a lot of my own 1st babe – alert, bright-eyed, sensitive. She had some tummy troubles but soon settled to sleep. Her mama commented, “you must have the patience of a saint” and I couldn’t help but smile because the truth is, I honestly lose track of time when I’m holding a newborn. I could have spent all day with beautiful Lucy and her lovely, easygoing parents – 3 of the nicest people I’ve met.
